Welcome to Yellowleaf Creek Kennel

Welcome

Here at Yellowleaf Creek Kennels we are committed to maintaining the integrity of one of the world's foremost athletes, the English Pointer. We feel that serious gun dog owners and friends of gun dogs get the most enjoyment from a day in the field with a well balanced, non-temperamental dog that has plenty of style and grace. An athlete that can perform with a level of endurance that is unparalleled in the animal kingdom.

Our hope is that your visit to this site is both informative and intriguing. You’ll see fine gun dogs and a welcome place to meet some new friends. And remember for all your Bird Dog needs, Spend some time at the Creek!

Welcome
We just thought we were done!

By all intentions I was finished trialing this year until an invite to Apple Hill Shooting Preserve in Waterford, Ohio. With a 3rd place in the Open Saturday Bam-Bam recieved her first Open Championship. A special thanks to Eric Wagner for a great trial and plenty of hospitality. A big hearty thanks to Loyall for their support at all of our trials, but this weekend they donated a bag of feed to 1st - 3rd this weekend on both days and had plenty of samples for everyone to try it out. Thanks also to Filson for the their great products. Their strap vest was ideal in the 85 degree weather, nice and cool as possible in that heat! Congratulations to Eric and Tike along with Steve Church and Deke on their Open wins.

Welcome
Another trial season behind us

It's that time of year we all dread all season long, hunting and trial season is over for us here in the south. Looking back we had a truly awesome year for trialing. Our runs were consistent all season with several great accomplishments along the way. Spot achieved championships in the Open and Doubles Divisions this year due in part to an awesome fall trial performance for several months. Bam-Bam I am proud to say hit her streak about mid-season and since December has not finished outside of the top 8 except for the finals at the Nationals. She had another outstanding performance at the 2009 Nationals. For the second year in a row she won her qualifying bracket to become the top qualifier from her bracket to make the cut to the Top 25 run-off. She finished up 20th out of 158 Open contenders and had a top five run with the exception of a couple of missed shots on my part. Coming right off of this performance she won her next trial and placed 6th at the last one for the season. When you have the opportunity to do what you love and be competitive week in and week out, you cannot ask for anything more. Hopefully we can be a successful this coming season. I've got Jed and Phoebe, pups out of Bam-Bam and Spot that are showing great potential and will begin their Amateur career this fall.
